Gloeotrichia density scale
Comments & Observations:

Many of you have noticed by now that the lake is experiencing high Gloeotrichia levels. Gloeotrichia (aka Gloeo) is a type of blue-green algae that is visible to the naked eye and colonies appear about the size of a pinhead. There is much that is still not understood about Gloeo although it appears to like warm, sunny water. Also you will notice that the lake is the clearest (despite the Gloeo) it has been all year with a Secchi reading over 20 feet deep. This is due to the lack of any rain of significance for the past few weeks.
