Comments & Observations:

Similar to last month, the bottom of the lake has observed a modest drop in dissolved oxygen. This indicates that biological processes still go on even during the winter, although not to the same extent as in the summer. The lake ice measured 20 inches thick at the testing site and was quite an effort to extract the block to allow equipment access. Since the beginning of the year, the area has seen few days above freezing which has certainly contributed to the impressive ice thickness.
