Comments & Observations:

Dissolved oxygen is now completely depleted at all depths of the lake below 20 feet. The lake has had an anoxic (no oxygen) zone for many years now, but it has not become this large and this deep since we have been recoding the dissolved oxygen profile. This is concerning; however, we have also had an extraordinary year of rainfall which has led to significant runoff into the lake. This has almost certainly played a contributing factor in this year’s readings but only time will tell if this is the new normal or an outlying year. A surface phosphorus grab was taken, and the result was 9 ppb. This reading is higher than normal but still below the level of concern and is again most likely due to the significant runoff.
