Water testing is generally performed every other week during the June to September season on either Saturday or Sunday with the actual time depending on prevailing conditions.

Participants will accompany the certified volunteer water quality monitor on a pontoon boat to the lake's deep water hole to conduct tests.

Testing takes about an hour or less to complete and includes a Secchi disc (clarify) reading, a dissolved oxygen (DO) & thermal profile, and miscellaneous other parameters. Once a month a water sample is taken to send to the Maine Health and Environmental Testing (HETL) lab to test for total phosphorus.
